Abstract

The development of Internet technology has made communication more widespread. Now many media platforms on the Internet have sprung up and become communication platforms. Various activities are carried out virtually by using various applications such as zoom, whatsapp, google meet and others. This happened when In early 2020, the world was shocked by the incidence of severe infections with unknown causes, which started with a report from China to the World Health Organization (WHO) that there were 44 severe pneumonia patients in an area namely Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, to be precise at the end of 2019 in China. So that everything there is a communication limit that requires him to just "work from home". In this case, it is interesting to study and the writer is a researcher at one of the private universities in Jayapura City, Papua, precisely on the Yapis Papua University campus which also conducts online learning using video conferencing applications or other text messages. Thus, the researcher examines the virtual communication culture during the Covid-19 pandemic (a case study of online learning at Yapis Papua university). The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research with a library research approach. The aim is to find out changes in the culture of virtual communication in learning during the covid 19 pandemic. The result of this research is to create a new culture where the transition shift from FTF to CMC is also to video conferencing applications such as zoom, google meet, line so that there is a virtual communication culture that is often used in learning during the Covid-19 pandemic.
